"The older generations keep saying that the youth are the leaders for tomorrow. So, we keep asking, when is tomorrow coming?” - Kenyan Youth Activist
Young people around the world are concerned about the future, and are increasingly making their voices heard in their communities and to those in power. In Kenya, following historic protests last year, youth activists continue to advocate for change in an increasingly hostile environment. This event, moderated by CGT Chair Adam Tooze, convenes a conversation with these leaders to talk about what is at stake and what is possible for young people in the region.
The Committee on Global Thought is pleased to announce the digital publication of our “Youth in a Changing World” signature research project. Drawing from interviews with young people around the world collected between 2019-2021, “Youth in a Changing World” gathered data on the desires, ambitions and anxieties of young people on the eve of and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. These findings, which are based in part on research conducted with youth in Kenya, inspired this event.
